A Spectacle Of Glory #30

Read: Psalm 37:5-6

When I’m in a wheelchair, riding in a special van with a raised roof, I can’t see the road ahead. The scenery may be fascinating, but as the disabled passenger, I have no way of knowing. This can be a little frustrating on a long road trip.

Sometimes we’re like this with God. We say to Him, “If You don’t mind, please show me where I’m going. I don’t need to see the whole road, but can’t You at least give me a glimpse?” We long for a hint, a signpost, a whisper, or something to reveal where God might be taking us. Yes, He might tell us at times, but through most of life, He simply wants us to trust in Him. Today’s Scripture reads, “Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him . . . and he will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn.” God is wise and good. We can trust Him with the road ahead.

Lord, I would love to see around the bend—or just over the horizon. I’d like to have an airplane view of life, to see “how things work out.” But You ask me to simply follow You step by step, hour by hour, moment by moment. I accept that today, Jesus. What matters most isn’t where I’m going, but the reality that You are with me.
