A Spectacle Of Glory #267
A Spectacle of Glory #267
Read: 2 Thessalonians 1:4, LB
Today’s Scripture reads, “We are happy to tell other churches about your patience and complete faith in God, in spite of all the crushing troubles and hardships you are going through.” The Puritans used to say that assurance of faith comes to believers who endure great trials or testing. Of course, no one wants heartache or pain. No one in their right mind asks for disappointments or setbacks. But when trials come, God takes careful note of how you navigate them. When you go through hard times, your faith becomes stronger. Your spiritual understanding takes on a sharper edge.
Maybe you’re still in the middle of it. Discouragement chills you like a winter wind, and you feel overwhelmed. If you hold on to Jesus through this stormy season, you will emerge with a stronger faith. According to Scripture, this enhanced faith is worth any amount of hardship. It’s better and much more valuable than gold.a In fact, it will hold its value forever.
Thank You, Father, that trusting You through difficulty and pain is worth something. It isn’t wasted. It isn’t for nothing. The days of struggle, frustration, and tears aren’t throwaway days. I don’t understand why this refining of my faith has to hurt so much, but I’m going to trust You with all my heart for the outcome.
