A Spectacle Of Glory #232
A Spectacle of Glory #232
Read: 1 Peter 1:6-8, NIV 1984
God’s children have no need to be enamored with gold—wearing it, flaunting it, hoarding it, or putting trust in it. But it wouldn’t hurt to have a small piece around just to remind us of more important, eternal things. A gold nugget or coin might call to mind today’s Scripture, where Peter writes that your trials “have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.” Just think! We prove our faith to be genuine when we demonstrate confidence in Christ during a painful trial. What’s more—and this is the amazing part—that same confidence will result in praise and honor and glory when Jesus returns. Are you looking for a golden gift to give Jesus on His coronation day? Let it be your genuine, tried-by-fire trust in Him!
O Lord, what will that day be like, when Your majesty and glory are revealed for all the world to see? I am awed and humbled to think that my faith in You will somehow add to Your glory and increase Your honor even more. Praise You for this privilege!
