Houston Rockets guard Jason Terry caught the eye of media members and a national television audience when the Rockets played the Cleveland Cavaliers in January 2016. The Rockets lost that game to the Cavs, with a final score of 91–77. A humorous moment happened when the deep bench of Cleveland checked in for garbage time. With 2:09 left to play, Jason Terry and Sasha Kaun were matched up for the inbound pass.

Terry, unconcerned with what would happen to the ball, just couldn’t figure out who he was guarding. Instead of trying to defend the inbound pass, Terry kept trying to get a look at the name on the back of that big Cavalier’s jersey. On ESPN’s His & Hers, hosts Michael Smith and Jemele Hill played the clip multiple times to note just how funny it was that Terry didn’t know Kaun’s name.

Aren’t you glad that isn’t the case with our heavenly Father? The agnostic believes that if there is a god, he is not interested in the lives of humanity. The deist says that God created the world, then stepped back and just let things take their natural course. But our heavenly Father, revealed through the Holy Bible, knows us intimately.

Psalm 139:13-14 says, “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.” No matter what you may be facing today, God knows exactly who you are, where you are, and what you are going through. He loves you and longs for you to know his love.
