Jesus, The Guilt Offering
Jesus, the Guilt Offering
My friend Mike Person is the executive producer at SB Nation Radio. Mike has been in radio production for years. He loves the Lord and has a great talent for lining up guests for his shows. When we started Vision for Life Radio: Where Faith and Sports Collide, Mike landed Coach Bobby Bowden and Heisman Trophy winner Charlie Ward for my very first show.
For Super Bowl 50, Mike and his team at SB Nation Radio went to Radio Row in San Francisco. As he was booking guests for the SB Nation Radio network, he sent me a picture of Baltimore Ravens running back Justin Forsette. Forsette’s hat was on backwards, and it read, “JESUS.” I love that Forsette was making it known that he is a Christ follower.
It seems that as things progress toward Christ’s return, opinions about faith are beginning to polarize. You are either for Jesus or you aren’t, and there isn’t a lot of middle ground. Those who are against Christ are mocking him more and more. Just watch HBO’s Bill Maher to witness this mocking. I believe this disrespect of Christ is in direct correlation to the foolishness of our country.
Proverbs 14:9 says, “Fools mock at the guilt offering, but the upright enjoy acceptance” (ESV). When there is an increase in folly and a disregard for God, the guilt offering that brings men peace with God is mocked more and more.
Our nation has progressively moved away from a fear of the Lord. He is not revered in the courtroom. He is not revered in the White House. He is not revered in the public square. There is a great disrespect and disregard for God, and this leads to an increase of fools and folly all around.
Don’t be a fool and disregard your maker. Fear the Lord and enjoy the guilt offering, the Lord Jesus, who paid the price for your sin.
Fools mock at the guilt offering, but the upright enjoy acceptance.
Proverbs 14:9, ESV
