Be Resolute

Be Resolute

It’s that time of year again—time to look back and reflect as we close out this year and time to look ahead and be resolute as we begin a new year. What were your resolutions at the beginning of this year? What will they be this next year? I am going to continue my pursuit of weight loss.

I realize that one of the reasons why I make resolutions each year is because I get frustrated with different parts of my life. Frustration isn’t fun, but I believe that if harnessed correctly, frustration can be a great tool for change.

Are you frustrated? Make a resolution to change. You see, resolutions are a good tool for us. They help us refocus our priorities and catalyze us forward to progress.

You may be frustrated with your spiritual life but may not know where to begin. Or you may be frustrated with your work life. Perhaps you may be frustrated because of your past mistakes. Take a look at Ecclesiastes 7:3 with me. It states, “Sorrow is better than laughter, for sadness has a refining influence on us.”

Do you want to get better? Look at your frustration and learn from it. Where did you change course? Where did you lose your way? Where did you err? Know that you aren’t defeated if you keep moving forward. Let’s make this next year our best yet!

Sorrow is better than laughter, for sadness has a refining influence on us.
