Respect

respect - How can I become a woman others respect?

Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant.

Matthew 20:26

[Jesus] must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.

John 3:30

There will be glory and honor and peace from God for all who do good.

Romans 2:10

Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the LORD will be greatly praised.

Proverbs 31:30

AS WOMEN, we sometimes believe that we’ll receive respect when we look good from the outside—like when our homes are tidy, our children are obedient, or we are successful in our careers. These external things might cause others to envy us, but they won’t bring real respect. Respect comes from serving rather than being served, taking responsibility for our actions instead of trying to save face in front of others, speaking up against injustice instead of blending in with the group, building others up instead of trying to make ourselves look good. The world teaches us to look beautiful at all costs, to speak with irreverence, and to live by what’s best for us. These self-centered practices may bring us attention but not anything deeper. True respect is reserved for people who consistently practice kindness, live with integrity, and are motivated by a deep love for others. The more you reflect the character of God, the more you will become the kind of woman who earns genuine respect.
