Passion

passion - Why can’t I always be on fire for God?

Hebrews 2:1

I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren’t ready for anything stronger. And you still aren’t ready.

1 Corinthians 3:2

You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.

Matthew 22:37

MOST PEOPLE have experienced the hunger to know God more and the excitement of growing closer to him. But just like in any relationship, feelings of passion ebb and flow. Sometimes sin hinders our experience of God, but it doesn’t mean that God is no longer present. And when the passion dies, it doesn’t necessarily mean that we are doing something wrong. Maybe God withdraws his closeness because he wants to grow our faith. God wants us to pursue him because we love and trust him, not because he gives us feelings of excitement. Your relationship with God takes effort and energy. Stay committed in your efforts to know him better: Consistently study God’s Word, be thankful, serve others, and look for him in every circumstance. Ask God to help you fight off feelings of apathy and reignite your passion for him.
