neighbors - I know God calls me to love my neighbor, but what does this look like in a practical sense?

“Which of these three would you say was a neighbor to the man who was attacked by bandits?” Jesus asked. The man replied, “The one who showed him mercy.” Then Jesus said, “Yes, now go and do the same.”

JESUS’ TEACHINGS mean that our “neighbor” is anyone around us who needs his love and care. However, sometimes when we think of everyone as our neighbor, we miss opportunities to love anyone. While it is important to love all people we come in contact with, sometimes we forget to love our actual neighbors. God has placed you in your city, your neighborhood, and your home for a reason—that those right around you might experience the love of Jesus through you. Do you know the needs of your neighbors? How might you practically meet one need in your neighborhood in order to show someone the love of Christ? Even as you read this, is God bringing a particular neighbor to mind? Sometimes it can feel scary to step out of your comfort zone to love those on your street. However, God promises to be with you and will bless your efforts to know and love your neighbors well.
