guilt - Why do I still feel guilty even though I have accepted God’s gift of salvation? Now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts. 1 John 1:9-10 HAVE YOU ever confessed your sin to God but still felt guilty? If so, perhaps the problem isn’t that God hasn’t forgiven you, but rather that you haven’t forgiven yourself. Part of accepting God’s salvation is also accepting our new identity. No matter what we have done, if we come to God for forgiveness, he forgives, cleanses, and makes us holy in his eyes. God does not want us to atone for our sin by feeling guilty and miserable. Rather, he wants us to trust his forgiveness and then walk in freedom. Faith is not simply a matter of believing with our minds; it is a matter of trusting in God’s grace with our hearts.
