Emptiness
emptiness - Why does life seem so empty?
She took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too. At that moment their eyes were opened. . . . So the LORD God banished them from the Garden of Eden.
Genesis 3:6-7, 23
Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God?
1 Corinthians 6:19
Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”
John 4:13-14
ADAM AND EVE lived in the Garden of Eden, experiencing the joy of God’s constant presence and perfect companionship. Imagine what it must have been like for them to suddenly be disconnected from God after they sinned. Most likely, they felt extremely alone and empty. Our emptiness, too, is due to the loss of God’s presence. When riches, relationships, or power fail to fill us, we end up feeling the depth of our emptiness even more. However, God promises a way back into his presence, and that is through his Son. Because of Jesus, we live with the certainty that God is always with us because his Spirit resides within us! Whenever you feel empty and alone, remember this: God is always with you. His presence is able to fill the depth of your emptiness.
