A Prayer In Times Of Depression

A prayer in times of Depression

When I feel low following a spiritual victory

O God,

How can I be experiencing such deep discouragement just months after being on such a spiritual high? I felt so close to you—I had experienced great victory in my relationship with you—and now I feel so far away. But if I’m being honest, I know the reason. When I was on top of the world, I didn’t seem to need you as much. I neglected you. No wonder I now feel distant. We haven’t talked, really talked, in a long time. O God, how I need you. Come to me in my discouragement. May I fill my heart and mind with your Word, which will encourage me with your love. Recognizing your love and care once again will begin to pull me up from the mire of my depression.

He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. Psalm 40:2
