A prayer for Purpose

When I wonder if God has a specific purpose for my life

Dear Lord,

I want my life to have purpose. According to your Word, I must let you transform my very thinking—and then I will know your will for me. In a general sense, I know my purpose is to let your love shine through me to make an impact on others. But in a specific sense, I know you want me to use my spiritual gifts to serve you within my sphere of influence. Could it be that the more I fulfill my general purpose, the clearer my specific calling will become? May my ultimate goal in life be to reach not the places I desire but the destinations you want for me. As I passionately pursue the purpose you have assigned for me, you promise to give my life greater meaning, lasting significance, and eternal results. May it be so, Lord.

Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2
