A prayer for Passion

When I’ve lost my passion for God

O dear Lord,

I fear I have allowed sin to dig its claws into me too deeply, and I feel as if I’m being dragged away from you. I’ve lost my passion for you and am feeling apathetic about spiritual things. I’m worried that Satan has me right where he wants me—with my eyes off of you and focused on something else. O Father, restore my spiritual eyesight; renew my passion for your Word. Speak to my heart as I open my Bible. Grab my attention and divert it from the sin I have fallen into. Please cultivate a thankful heart in me, for you have shown me the way of salvation! And compel my heart to engage in acts of service to others. I pray for the wisdom and courage to fight off feelings of apathy toward you and renew my passion for the purpose you have for my life. Then I will again be excited about the blessings you have given me and have promised me in the future. Glory to you, God.

Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance. Hebrews 6:11-12
