A Prayer For Grace

A prayer for Grace

How do I receive God’s grace?

Lord God,

When the Bible says I am saved by grace, it means that you have done me the biggest favor of all—you have pardoned me from the death sentence I deserve because of my sins. I do not have to earn your favor or work my way into heaven. By grace I am forgiven for my sins and restored to full fellowship with you. Thank you, Lord. Please let me be humble enough to recognize my need for you and to request your forgiveness. The more I realize how much I need your grace, the more I realize I don’t deserve it—which is exactly why I need it! I cannot take credit for my salvation any more than a baby can brag about being born. The fact that this is your gift and not the product of my own effort gives me great comfort, security, and hope. Help me to accept your grace like the gift it is.

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Ephesians 2:8-9
