A prayer about Purpose

When I want to understand God’s plans

Dear God,

Understanding the deep truths that help life make sense doesn’t come easily. I must search for understanding. I must want to know why you made me and what you want me to do. But you haven’t left me without a way to find out. God, you have left believers an entire book—the Bible—and you told us to read it before you return, because it tells us exactly what we need to know to have a purposeful life. As I read your Word, I pray that you would answer my desire to know you—your character and your commands. And as I seek to know your plans, I pray that you would reveal to me the way of righteous living. I pray for understanding so that I can say with confidence, “My God has plans for me!”
