A prayer about Limitations

When I don‘t want my limitations to hold me back

God Almighty,

With each passing year I become more aware of my limitations. It’s not just physical limitations but emotional ones that leave me feeling drained and empty. But in your great wisdom, you allow every person to have weaknesses—not to discourage us, but to help us realize our utter need for you. For it is in weakness that your strength shines. And so, O Lord, I ask that your strength would overcome my limitations. May I be able to accomplish something great despite my weakness, and may it be obvious to those watching that you are working through me. Then you will receive the credit and be glorified. Jesus said, “What is impossible for people is possible with God” (Luke 18:27). Oh, may it be so as you work your mighty power through me. May my limitations not discourage but rather encourage me, because they show I am ready for your power to be unleashed in my life. God, I praise you that I don’t have to be more than I am for you to do great things in me.

Each time [the Lord] said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 2 Corinthians 12:9
