A Prayer About Involvement
A prayer about Involvement
When getting involved feels too complicated
God,
These days I seem to find it increasingly easy to say, “I don’t want to get involved.” Maybe my excuse is that the situation looks too messy or complicated. Often, when I see someone in need or notice something I could do to help, I am tempted to turn a blind eye. I sometimes hope someone else will do something about it. But God, you remind me that I am to be compassionate and active, ready and willing to go the extra mile. Your command to love my neighbor is a command to take action. You don’t tell me to love my neighbor when it’s convenient; you tell me to make the most of every opportunity. Opportunities to get involved are also your way of getting my attention. It is amazing how one of the best ways to experience your presence, God, is by getting involved in the lives of others! Show me where I need to be involved today.
Now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples. John 13:34-35
