A Prayer About Vulnerability
A prayer about Vulnerability
When I wonder if I can trust God with my deepest secrets
Lord God,
What if others knew who I really am? That thought frightens me. I’m not sure there’s anyone to whom I can reveal my true self: my deepest fears, hurts, sins, or doubts. I need that kind of intimacy, but I resist it because it requires vulnerability—and that means revealing the dark things I hoped would never come out into the open. O God, I even resist being vulnerable with you about my sins, especially the ones I don’t want to give up. But you require full disclosure, and I know it’s for my own good. Only through being vulnerable will I find true healing, restoration, renewal, and forgiveness. I desire that with all my heart. As I admit my sin and seek forgiveness, may my relationship with you be restored, and may I find a great weight lifted. I trust in your love for me, so I have nothing to fear and nothing to hide. You see my sin, you forgive me, and you are changing me.
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. Psalm 139:23-24
