A Prayer About Strength

A prayer about Strength

When I need God’s strength

Lord,

In our culture, people seem to equate following you with being weak. That’s not true! It’s easy to do whatever I feel like doing—that takes no discipline at all. But it takes strength to humbly obey you when I’m tempted to sin, or to humbly serve others when I don’t feel like it. I don’t always have that resolve, Lord. Often I struggle with sin, and then I’m overwhelmed by my weakness and doubt whether I could do anything worthwhile for you. At those times I take comfort in the fact that your wisdom and power are demonstrated even better through my weaknesses than through my strengths. When I depend on my willpower, I am weak and I will fail. When I allow you to work through my weaknesses, I am strong. Only then can I be used by you to demonstrate your love and power. Teach me always to depend on your strength, not my own.

I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:10
