A prayer about Risk

When I need to take risks for God

Almighty God,

I admit that most of the time I try to minimize risk. I have insurance policies, retirement funds, security codes on my credit cards, alarms in my home and car. These aren’t bad things, but sometimes my desire to protect myself keeps me from doing what I should do. I feel hemmed in by my fear, and it prevents me from following what I know is your call. This is not where I want to be, Lord. Your Word says that following you is sometimes full of risk, but I know the risk is worth it if it helps me grow spiritually and be successful in your eyes. When you call me to do something that’s outside my comfort zone, give me the courage to obey, even at the risk of failing. May I trust you to help me complete what you have asked me to do. I know that when I act in faith, you will reward me by causing my faith to grow.

Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you. Psalm 37:5
