A Prayer About Reconciliation

A prayer about Reconciliation

When I ponder the importance of being at peace with others

Lord God,

Reconciliation is at the heart of what it means to follow you. After all, Jesus suffered the agony of the cross to redeem sinful humans—including me—and close the gap between us and God. Thank you, Lord! Impress on my heart that this restoration doesn’t end there; it also extends to my relationships with those around me. In fact, your Word tells me that my reconciliation with you is a picture of how I am to be reconciled with others. You care about harmony among people so much that you say in the Bible that living with an unresolved conflict can actually hinder my relationship with you. I don’t want that, Lord. Search my heart and show me anyone in my life with whom you want me to pursue reconciliation. May I be willing to take the first step in resolving past conflicts, and as I go forward, teach me to live in peace with those around me.

If you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God. Matthew 5:23-24
