A prayer about Hurts

When I need healing

Merciful God,

You call me to practice the art of forgiveness. When someone has hurt me, your Word tells me that extending true forgiveness is the best way to melt away my hard feelings and experience the joy of restoration. I believe this truth, but it’s so difficult to put into practice. I need you to soften my heart. Remind me that I have sinned against you and others and that, even though my sins have hurt you greatly, you have already offered me your complete forgiveness, and you desire to fully restore your relationship with me. If you have pardoned my great debt, how much more do I need to pardon those who sin against me? Lord, in this world I will experience pain. But when I am hurt by a friend, loved one, or even a stranger, it’s a reminder that I long for a more perfect relationship with you, the one who will never hurt me or disappoint me.

Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Colossians 3:13
