A Prayer About Contentment

A prayer about Contentment

When I’m not content

Lord,

I realize today that I’ve allowed discontentment to creep into my heart. Sometimes this feeling comes because I permit my present troubles to overshadow your past blessings. Other times it’s the opposite: I feel dissatisfied because I’m stuck in the past, forgetting the blessings of today. Too often I compare myself to others and their possessions, and then I confuse my wants with my needs. O Lord, I need your help to regain the joy I once had—in life, in you, in my relationships with others. Teach me to keep my focus on you. Show me how to discipline my mind to find the good in every situation and to be thankful for my blessings. Then I will be content, trusting in you to provide for my every need.

True godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. 1 Timothy 6:6-8
