A Prayer About Confession
A prayer about Confession
When my sin separates me from God
Heavenly Father,
Today I’m feeling guilty about something I’ve done. I know you don’t intend for me to live with this guilt, but it has a purpose: it prompts me to confess my wrong to you. Lord, you know that I want things to be right between us. I admit my wrong and receive your cleansing forgiveness. Because I have confessed my sin and turned away from it, you have promised to remove my guilt, restore my joy, and heal my broken soul with your forgiving love.
Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty! When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. . . . Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the LORD.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Psalm 32:1-3, 5
