A prayer about Amazement

When I want to recapture my sense of awe at what God has done

Lord God,

I have heard the Bible stories so many times that I have lost some of my initial sense of amazement. I’m ashamed to say it, but the miraculous things you have done in history sometimes seem almost routine. I need to regain my perspective so I can remember again how wonderful you are. Help me to pay attention to the world around me and see how you are working—in big ways and small. Give me ears to hear stories of how you have amazed others and entered into their lives in tangible ways. Show me the beauties of creation around me, the blessing of close friendships, the miracle of people sharing your love. Feeling awe over these everyday miracles will prepare my heart to experience even more astounding things. As I look around me and read your Word, may I always look for evidence of your work. I know I will find it and be amazed.

O God, your ways are holy. Is there any god as mighty as you? You are the God of great wonders! You demonstrate your awesome power among the nations. Psalm 77:13-14
