A Prayer About Rumors
A prayer about Rumors - Responding to personal attacks
DEAR LORD,
I come to you with a heavy heart, not sure how to respond. In the past, when I read verses about enemies, I thought they didn’t apply to me because I got along with everyone. But recently I’ve been on the receiving end of some terrible verbal blows—and behind my back, not to my face. A person has been spreading rumors about me, not direct assaults but through innuendos. I noticed some people treating me differently and wondered why. Then a friend told me what was happening. I feel a terrible mix of emotions—anger, sadness, fear, and confusion—because I can’t figure out what I must have done to provoke these attacks. I’m going to talk with the person today, Lord, and I need your wisdom and courage. I want to speak the truth carefully and in love. Please prepare this person, my “enemy,” to be open and honest. I pray for reconciliation that honors you.
Do not let me fall into their hands. For they accuse me of things I’ve never done; with every breath they threaten me with violence. Yet I am confident I will see the LORD’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD. Psalm 27:12-14
