HOLY SPIRIT,

I am so frustrated with how I have been treated lately. Unfounded accusations and vicious rumors are being spread about me, and I know the source. This frustration is turning to anger and thoughts of revenge against this person. My feelings and thoughts are strong, and I admit them to you. I’m afraid that if I continue to dwell on this, I will become obsessed, consumed, and evil will conquer me. Please help me let go of these feelings and any thoughts of hurting the source of my pain and leave any revenge and the righteous resolution to you. I need to remember that my antagonist is a unique creation made in your image and loved by you. Spirit of God, work on my spirit, changing my feelings toward this person. Instead of responding with hateful words and insults, empower me to respond in humility, kindness, and acts of service. I want my life to be a powerful testimony of your grace, pointing to Jesus.

Never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the LORD. . . . Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good. Romans 12:19, 21
