A Prayer About Living Faith
A prayer about Living Faith - Living out my beliefs
HOLY SPIRIT,
This morning I confess that I feel dry spiritually. For many years I have listened to sermons and talks, participated in Bible studies and classes, and read and studied your Word. I have even memorized verses. I can discuss the finer points of doctrine with just about anyone and defend Christianity in a debate. Sometimes I think I have all the answers. But clearly my faith and my relationship with you should involve more than having knowledge. James declares that “even the demons” could get an A on a Bible test. I need to go beyond head knowledge to the heart, fully trusting you as Lord. And that trust should make a difference in my actions, how I live. Theology is important, I know, but I don’t want to settle for the cold facts. I yearn to have a heart that is burning for you—to know you better, love you more deeply, and serve you fully. I want people to remember me as a person on fire for Christ. Light that fire, I pray.
You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless? James 2:19-20
