A prayer about Holy Interruptions - Valuing people

SPIRIT OF GOD,

I confess that lately my priorities seem twisted. Several times during the past few days I have either hurried through ministry opportunities or ignored them altogether. You know I try to keep to my schedule in order to accomplish my daily goals, many of which involve ministry. But I don’t appreciate interruptions, even if it is a call from a friend who wants to share a concern, an e-mail reminder from church to pray for a needy family, or someone who stops by to talk. Don’t let me get away with that. I must put real people ahead of my time-fillers. I easily condemn the Pharisees for having their values backward. But I’m afraid I repeat their sin. Help me build margin into my schedule so I have room for the unexpected. Most important, make me sensitive to real needs so that I can meet them with your power.
