A Prayer About Holiness

A prayer about Holiness - Experiencing God

MY SOVEREIGN, MY KING,

Today, I humbly bow before you, unworthy to come into your presence. I know that Jesus opened the way for me, and I am grateful. You are God, and I am a lowly created being who often willfully turns from you, disobeying your commands. Nothing in me is good save for the work of Christ for me and in me. You are infinite, and I am finite; thus I cannot comprehend you. Please forgive me for being casual about you and your work of salvation and for not approaching you with reverence and awe. What a breathtaking privilege you have given me to be in relationship with you, to be your child. When Isaiah saw you, he was undone as he realized the vast gulf between his nature and yours. Then you cleansed him and commissioned him. O my God, “Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee.”

I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of his robe filled the Temple. . . . Then I said, “It’s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.” Isaiah 6:1, 5
