A Prayer About God’s Provision For His People

A prayer about God’s Provision For His People - Living under divine protection

SOVEREIGN LORD,

I read in Exodus how you led the Jews from slavery in Egypt to the Promised Land. You guided and protected your chosen nation along the way, giving civil and moral laws, providing food and water, and raising up strong leaders. Despite their stubbornness, rebellion, and even idolatry, you kept the covenant and didn’t abandon them to the elements, their enemies, or the consequences of their sin. Then you fulfilled your promise to send the Messiah, the Savior. I have wondered how any Israelite could ever doubt your goodness and wander from your plan after seeing your mighty works in the wilderness. But I have much more evidence: the written record of those miraculous events, the New Testament, two thousand years of church history, and countless examples of your work in my life. Yet I can be rebellious and stubborn. Forgive me. And thank you for preserving your people, including me.

Understand . . . that the LORD your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands. Deuteronomy 7:9
