A Prayer About God’s Leading

A prayer about God’s Leading - Remembering the past

HEAVENLY FATHER,

Deuteronomy describes Moses preparing your chosen people to enter the Promised Land. He urged everyone to remember all that you had done for them in the past, especially how you had led and protected them through the wilderness. Having the perspective of time, I also can reflect on your guidance through the years. I usually did not know the destination, but you did, so I followed. At times I wondered why you took me along treacherous and painful paths (and I asked hard questions), but now I see their purpose. When I had a difficult decision to make and didn’t know which way to turn, I talked to you about it—crying in desperation—and giving it to you. Then, by faith, I chose and moved on . . . and it was good. Lord, each of those turning points was a struggle to trust because I wanted to see the end, to know why you were taking me that way. Help me now to remember your perfect guidance and to trust you for this day.

Remember how the LORD your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands. Deuteronomy 8:2
