A Prayer About Watching And Waiting

When I see the signs of the times

DEAR JESUS,

You have promised to return, and you keep all your promises. You told your disciples about the events preceding the Second Coming. These signs include a spike in wars, natural disasters, and intense maltreatment of believers. As I hear the news reports and read the accounts of the persecuted church, I believe I am witnessing the predictions being fulfilled. You also said that when those events occur, your followers should get ready because your return would be soon. Some think this means they should stop everything and just wait somewhere for you. I know you don’t want that; instead, I should be alert, prepared, and expectant because you could return at any moment, even tonight. So as I am watching and waiting, I need to be a responsible member of my family, church, and community, serving others and living for you. I praise you, Lord Jesus, for your first coming, during which you died on the cross for me. And I praise you for your second one, yet to come.

There will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken. Then everyone will see the Son of Man coming on a cloud with power and great glory. So when all these things begin to happen, stand and look up, for your salvation is near! Luke 21:25-28
