A Prayer About Tragedy

When calamity comes

MY GOD,

Daily I am reminded that the world is broken, marred by sin. As each catastrophe occurs worldwide, I grieve and pray for those affected. But I also assume that I am immune. Then, when tragedy strikes me, I am surprised. Forgive my self-centered attitude, Lord. Regardless of what happens, I know you are good all the time, and I praise your name.

People can never predict when hard times might come. Like fish in a net or birds in a trap, people are caught by sudden tragedy. Ecclesiastes 9:12
