A Prayer About Passion

A prayer about Passion

When I feel my love for God cooling

GRACIOUS GOD,

Several years have passed since I gave my life to you. Over that time I have read and studied your revealed Scriptures, from Genesis to Revelation, and have attended church regularly for worship, teaching, fellowship, and service. I have shelves of Bible reference tools and Christian books. I have attended seminars and gone on short-term missions trips. And I listen to Christian music and radio. If given a test on Bible knowledge or theology, I’m confident that I would do well because I would know the answers. I love you, Lord, I really do, but I feel lukewarm, even cool, in my faith. I remember when I first trusted Christ as Savior. Filled with joy and excitement, I eagerly shared with anyone who would listen about my new relationship with you. What happened? What extinguished that fire? O Lord, “restore to me the joy of your salvation,” my passion for you and your Word. I don’t want to be a statistic, an average Christian who simply goes through the spiritual motions. I want to be fired up for you.

Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you. Psalm 51:12
