A Prayer About Knowing

A prayer about Knowing

When I need assurance

MY GOD AND FATHER,

I know that tough times bring tough questions. My situation certainly is not desperate, just a bit rocky, but lately I have been feeling unsure about my faith and the future. The economy, political developments, world events, and personal stress seem to be bringing me down, especially when I am physically and emotionally tired. In 2 Timothy, however, you remind me of your faithfulness through Paul’s powerful example and strong faith. Paul had given everything to take the gospel across the world, but when he wrote this letter, he was sitting in a dank prison hole, abandoned by all but a few friends. He was cold and alone. And Paul understood that this would be his last imprisonment; he was awaiting execution. Yet he still could assert his confidence in you. Knowing you, he could be sure of his future, regardless of his present circumstances. My circumstances aren’t nearly as difficult, but I need that confident assurance, Lord. Please bolster my faith, I pray, and help me to entrust everything to you.

I am suffering here in prison. But I am not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return. 2 Timothy 1:12
