A Prayer About Hitting The Wall
A prayer about Hitting The Wall
When I have exhausted my resources
JESUS,
I have thought and expressed often that life is not a short sprint but a long-distance race, and I have tried to live that way, training, stretching, taking fluids, running the right pace, and more. But just as what often happens in a marathon, I have hit the wall. I have exhausted all my resources, and I am spent, gasping and wondering how I can take another step. Runners know that this experience is more than physical; the mind and emotions are totally involved. So I keep thinking about quitting—pulling out of all my activities, resigning from my responsibilities, and just putting life on hold. Maybe right now I need rest or nourishment. I know I need love and understanding . . . and direction. I’m not even sure what to pray for. You’ve been where I am—burdened, abandoned, and abused—yet you kept moving toward your calling, the Cross. O Lord, I’m amazed and overwhelmed that you continued to Calvary. Please reenergize me with renewed strength, gentle guidance, hope, and courage to finish the course you have laid out for me.
Take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees. Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong. Hebrews 12:12-13
