A Prayer About Health

When I hear claims about supernatural healing

DEAR GOD,

I read many stories of miracles in Scripture. Jesus responded to requests to heal the blind, lame, deaf, and demon possessed, and even to raise people from the dead. And you empowered the apostles to heal people. I know you can do anything, and at times, you choose to answer prayers by healing people physically and emotionally—but not always. Some religious people claim that miracles like that happen all the time and that your people can be healthy and wealthy if they have enough faith. But why should we expect special treatment, especially considering that all the disciples experienced harassment and violent persecution? They had as much faith as anyone in history, yet their lives were not easy. I want to enjoy good health and will maintain a healthy lifestyle, eating healthy food as a responsible steward of the body you have given me. And I will continue to pray for healing, for myself and others. But regardless of circumstances, I want to trust you, depending totally on you and seeing each breath as a gift.
