A Prayer About God’s Will

When I need guidance

LORD,

I want what you want, to do your will. My usual way of operating is to gather as much relevant information as I can. Then, based on that information, I make an informed decision about the way to go and I move ahead. It’s a deliberate process. I am not an impulsive person and not driven by emotions. So I usually try to do what is reasonable and right. The problem, however, is that I tend to be self-reliant and so self-confident that I do everything on my own, with no thought of you. How foolish! Forgive me, Lord. I need you at every turn, every step of the way, in every decision. You alone know the best way for me, the path to take. But why do I turn to you only when I’m confused or in trouble? I need you in the rain and darkness, yes, but also in the sunlight. You reveal your will through your Word, prayer, and others. I trust you, Lord. Please guide me, I pray, as I determine to live your way every day.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6
