A Prayer About God’s Presence

When I sense my Lord is near

SPIRIT OF GOD,

Some speak of feeling close to you in special settings: while listening to a musical masterpiece, singing an emotive worship song, hearing a stirring personal testimony, responding to a powerful sermon, or exulting in your magnificent creation. Certainly you are in those places. But I sensed your presence today, all day, in many other ways. In the morning, as I moved to my first responsibilities, phrases from your Word kept coming to mind. Sometimes they were from the passage I had read earlier; at other times, from verses I had memorized. Later, I saw evidence of you in direct answers to my prayers. I also know you were, and are, working behind the scenes, weaving together all things for my good and your glory. You are with me in my quiet moments and in the noise and clutter of everyday life. We stand together in my victories and defeats, highs and lows, joys and sorrows. You are also with me in every place—home, neighborhood, work, church, gym, restaurant, theater, airplane. Thank you, Lord.

I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! Psalm 139:7
