A Prayer About Focus
A prayer about Focus
When I take my eyes off Christ
SAVIOR,
I know that one of the most important keys to running well and finishing strong is to stay focused on the goal. Runners who begin to think about every ache and pain get discouraged and consider quitting the race. Those who are distracted by intriguing sights and sounds on either side of the course can begin to slow, meander, or fall, as they lose sight of the way. I am like both kinds of runners at times. I can let physical and emotional pain slow my pace. Or I can allow temptations and worldly concerns pull me off course. This world presents distractions and enticements at every turn. Mine include others’ opinions of me, personal security, physical appearance and health, notable achievements, and more. I need to keep focused on you and your will, Jesus. I need your spiritual blinders to keep me from being drawn off course. You, your glory, your prize are all I desire. Please help me to always look forward, keeping my eyes on you.
Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant. Galatians 1:10
