A Prayer About Depression

When I’m feeling down

O LORD,

This was a rough day, and I feel bad about myself. My emotions are on edge, my eyes welling up. Life seems gloomy and threatening. I feel like David in the cave, when he was hiding from Saul. And as he did, I plead for your intervention. Give me your peace, I pray, and a good night’s sleep. And help me awaken with renewed hope.

Come quickly, LORD, and answer me, for my depression deepens. Don’t turn away from me, or I will die. Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Psalm 143:7-8
