A Prayer About Amen

When I know that my prayers are heard

FATHER,

Often my prayers become routine, ending abruptly with, “In Jesus’ name, amen.” Forgive me for rushing those words. I am nothing without Jesus, and I can come to you only because of him. “Amen” has become trite, but it means “Yes!”—an exclamation point at the end of my prayer-sentence. I affirm that I believe what I am saying, that I believe in you. I know you hear me and will answer me. Amen!

All of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” . . . ascends to God for his glory. 2 Corinthians 1:20
