A Reflection On Taking Up My Cross

When I need to let go of my pride

Jesus says: “Take up your cross daily.” Not once at our first glimpse of Calvary. Not occasionally when we feel a need to repent. Daily. If we live by pride daily, we must undo pride daily. And nothing undoes pride but the Cross. It reminds us that our remedy is not simply to try to do better, but to die to ourselves and be resurrected with Christ. The Cross is our model for living for Him.

If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me.
