A Reflection On Resurrection

When I want to testify that Jesus is alive

We have been entrusted with the greatest truth the world has ever known. At the apex of history, Christ died and was raised—the age of resurrection had begun. Sins had been forgiven through Him. This is an incomparable story; no man-made religion has ever come close to matching it. No others have claimed resurrection to back up their teaching. The disciples, as witnesses, were entrusted as guardians of this truth.

We, too, are witnesses of the Resurrection. We haven’t seen it in the same way the disciples did, but we have certainly witnessed it, if Jesus lives within us by faith. And like them, we have been radically changed by this resurrection. No one who has encountered the risen Christ can remain the same; we are compelled by His Spirit within us—His relentlessly searching Spirit—to go and tell.

It was written long ago that the Messiah would suffer and die and rise from the dead on the third day. It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: “There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.” You are witnesses of all these things.
