A Reflection On Purpose
A reflection on Purpose
When I wonder if my life has any point
We exist to appreciate God’s glory—there is no higher purpose for us. It is no wonder, then, at the end of Jesus’ earthly ministry, that He prays for us to see His glory. But the amazing thing is that Jesus also wants us to share His glory by having some of it (John 17:22). Unworthy as we are, He has given us the glory that the Father gave Him. In beholding His glory, we are able to reflect it (2 Corinthians 3:18). What a privilege!
We often feel trapped in mundane lives—just existing rather than actually living with purpose. Jesus’ prayer reminds us that our purpose far exceeds our ability to even begin to comprehend. We are partakers in the glory of God. We were created to see it. We were created to enjoy it. And we were created to share it with Him. Trapped in a meaningless existence? Never. We are children of God. Share His glory.
Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began!
John 17:24
