A Reflection On Jesus’ Second Coming

A reflection on Jesus’ Second Coming

When I want to live in the knowledge that Jesus will return

Many Christians believe that Jesus is coming again but do not live with the urgency that indicates that it is a real belief. But there is a reason Jesus told His disciples to be ready and then waited more than two thousand years. He intends for us to live every day with an eternal perspective, sowing seeds that will bear everlasting fruit. He wants us to be single-minded in our service, preparing His household in the same way we would if He were standing beside us, telling us what to do. Those who love Him serve Him well. Those who give Him mere lip service will get up and act busy when He comes through the door.

Does Jesus’ return guide your life today? Or is His return on the back burner, a distant thought while you live out the demands of the present? Be careful of the answer. According to Jesus, it’s the difference between being wise and being foolish.

Be dressed and be ready. Keep the lamps burning. Watch for the Master’s return and be wise. He is coming.

You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.
