A Reflection On Jesus’ Birth

When I wonder why Jesus came

Why did Jesus come? Why did the Creator decide to clothe Himself in creation and enter this world through a young girl late one night in the company of livestock? The Bible is very clear: Jesus came to save us. And His incisive declaration in John 6:38 should tell us something about the will of God: it is good. Jesus defines it for us: “This is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them up at the last day” (John 6:39).

For everyone who has ever wondered how God sees him or her; for everyone who has ever doubted God’s love when a prayer has gone unanswered or a life has become broken; for everyone who has cried out to God, “Are You there?” or “Do You care?”, Jesus has this answer: He has come to do God’s will, and His will is very, very good. Jesus came into this world as an act of divine love.

I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do my own will.
