What Is Wisdom?

What Is Wisdom?

Wisdom is your future self coming to visit you in a time machine.

If you could travel back in time, what would you tell yourself? You’d probably have a list of lessons you had to learn the hard way. You’d have cautionary tales about how to avoid future pitfalls and silly mistakes.

Wisdom is just that: bits of knowledge that will help to keep you from living foolishly.

Some mistakes we make in life are because we just don’t know any better. Sometimes we know what to do, but walk down the wrong path over and over, and never learn our lesson. Sometimes, we’re so full of pride that no one can tell us anything.

Wisdom looks into your future to tell you where your actions will lead.

Wisdom can save you from an unfulfilled life.

Out in the open wisdom calls aloud. . . . “How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge? Repent at my rebuke! Then I will pour out my thoughts to you, I will make known to you my teachings.” —Proverbs 1:20,22–23
